What is Most Important in Opera?

The very first sounds resonating from the orchestra pit immediately dispel my rather negative disposition towards this production of "Don Carlo". French conductor Pierre Vallet strongly believes in every sound of every phrase and creates a sensitive conversation between himself and the music (...). I'm surprised by how well the entire palette of sounds reaches each corner of the auditorium, I'm overjoyed about the sense of theatrical majesty that grabs me into its embrace and doesn't let go.
